Many of you, having just found out what corn hole is, may be wondering what the exact rules for the game actually are. So, I went to the official American Corn hole Association website and looked into them. Here is a quick outline of what I found out:

First off, you need to under stand the layout of the Corn Hole “court”, here is a image explaining it best:

As you can see, the two platforms are laid 27 feet apart from base to base, and the person pitching the bag must stay behin the “foul line” for it to be considered a fair shot.

In Game Corn Hole Rules

You can play either singles or doubles. Meaning two or four players, teams or singles. When a corn bag is tossed, it can do one of three things.

It can land and stop on the board, resulting in one point.

It can land in the hold, resulting in 3 points.

Or, it can land anywhere besides on the board or in the hole (on the ground haha) which results in 0 points.

At the end of each round, you total up each teams points and take the difference to decide how many points are awarded. For example: If team A puts 1 bag in the hole and team B puts one bag on the board, Team A only scores 2 points (3 points from team A) – (1 point team B). You play until one of the teams reaches 21. As far as pitching rotation in game, the team that scored the previous round, pitches FIRST on the next round.

These are the BLATANTLY simple corn hole rules I hope you enjoy!

If you have played Corn hole once, then you basically know how to play it for the rest of your life, the corn hole rules are extremely simple. However, there are some people that might want to step it up a notch and try to play with some of the optional corn hole rules. Here are some of the rules:

If a player gets all 4 bags in the hole, they automatically win.

The JP Rule: If a team scores over 21 (as opposed to exactly 21) then their score is reset to 13.

A Bag that goes into the hole without touching anything is 5 points.

These three optional corn hole rules can bring quite a twist to the game! I really like the one where if you get all 4 bags in the hole, you win the game. I have only done this one, and I definitely deserved to take the game right then and there. I must say though, the rule where you reset to 13 if you score over 21 points really must suck! Happy Corn Holing!
